Growing Your Business – Diversify or Die Is your cleaning business a little slow right now? The Transition from carpet to hard surface flooring has been evolving for several years. In 2002, rug production in the US represented 17% of carpet manufacturing; whereas, last year in 2007, it was over 25%. Of course, under those rugs are hard surface floors...wood, tile, marble and stone, just waiting to be cleaned. And what about that durniture sitting on top of the floors? Diversification is one of the easiest ways to expand your market. To keep your company's income stable - or even frowing - during these sluggish economic times, you need to offer a wider variety of services to the same customer base you already have. Remember, diversification is not just about learning new skill. You should have a plan in mind to integrate new services to make your business more marketable to a larger customer base. Both Ruth and Paul have owned and operated cleaning businesses. Together they have over 40 yesars experience in the cleaning industry. In this seminar they will share their thoughts and ideas about the easiest ways to grow and expand your business through IICRC certifications. Dry Ice Blasting – Revolutionary & Environmentally Responsible Industrial Cleaning Solutions Dry ice cleaning is a revolutionary cleaning technology that has been widely adopted throughout the US and Europe. It is a technique that uses dry ice as the cleaning medium, which cleans via a very brief thermal shock as opposed to abrasive or chemical cleaning techniques. The major benefit of this technology is that it is non-abrasive and therefore does not damage underlying materials, AND the cleaning medium (the dry ice) disappears on impact. Meaning there is ZERO additional waste to contain, or dispose of. The process has many advantages over water blasting, sand blasting and solvent cleaning - as there is no secondary waste to contain, the process can be conducted almost anywhere, there is no need to disassemble production equipment to take it offline for cleaning. The process also kills off potential allergen and bacteria breeding situations for food manufacturers due to dry ice’s temperature of minus 80 degrees C. In building and facility maintenance the process can be used externally without the waste water runoff, and minimizing potential environmental pollutants. Dry ice cleaning is already widely used overseas for disaster remediation such as cleaning smoke and soot damage after a fire, and mould remediation. In Europe the process is used extensively for cleaning historic buildings that need a delicate clean that is non-abrasive, the process has even proven gentle enough to clean smoke damage from leather-bound books after a library fire. Come along to an introductory session on the process, and see the benefits the process can bring to your application! |

Services’ Benchmarks – To Have or Not to Have? A Service Benchmark is defined as “an ongoing systematic process for measuring and comparing a work process of one organisation against those of another”. However, with the diversity of companies in the services industry, it can be difficult to find any two companies which can be easily compared against each other. This dilemma gives rise to questions regarding the validity of Service Benchmarks. In this presentation, a brief snapshot will be given from the services provider’s point of view, utilising the data and an understanding of the application of Service Benchmarks. We will also identify whether or not Service Benchmarks make a real impact on progressive operational and customer service based organisations. Speaker bio » |
